Generation of a Flat-Top Magnetic Field With Multiple-Capacitor Power Supply

The flat-top magnetic field (FTMF) can meet scientific experimental requirements for higher intensity, longer pulse width, and lower ripple in physics, chemistry, biology, other fields. This paper proposes an FTMF system powered by the multiple-capacitor power supply (MCPS). MCPS consists of several capacitor banks with customizable capacitance given voltage. These discharge sequentially based on designed time-series to yield FTMF. Compared methods generating FTMF, easily generate FTMFs high parameters flexible adjustability width. Due coupled variable between within magnet, a hybrid algorithm genetic (GA) particle swarm optimization (PSO) is applied calculate MCPS. optimal solution from GA-PSO visualized selected basis vector method. For verifying effectiveness method, series at different strength levels are modeled MATLAB/Simulink achieved experiment. generated highest 50 T, its width 70 ms, less than 0.7%.
